TYNESIDE WALKING & SOCIAL GROUP

  High Cup Nick walk, 2011
We are a walking and outdoor activities group based on Tyneside. The group was formerly Newcastle local YHA group. We regularly walk in the Northumberland and Durham area, usually on Sundays, the walks being between 7 and 12 miles.
We have weekends away, typically, in the Lake District or Yorkshire and staying in YHA, other reasonably priced accommodation, or camping.
The group has a strong social element and we hold twice monthly pub nights on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month and organise other events such as restaurant meals or visits to historic buildings.
Our events calendar will show you what we are doing over the next  few months. Prospective members are welcome to attend several events before deciding whether to join.
Walks are led by an experienced leader but please remember that everyone is responsible for their own safety and being properly equipped. Please bring walking boots, waterproofs, cold weather clothing including a hat and gloves or a sun hat and sunscreen as appropriate. Don't forget a packed lunch and drink. Most of the walks include a pub or cafe stop.
If you don't have your own transport the walk organiser can often arrange a lift, in return a very reasonable contribution towards fuel costs is usually expected.
If you would like contact details for an event organiser then please email tony37@talktalk.net
